It won't be any old Iron for manager
BRAINTREE Town fans worried that manager Alan Devonshire has yet to sign a new player for next season despite already losing two key ones from last season are being told: "There's no panic."
Devonshire explains: "I'm talking to many players who I believe will help boost the squad for next season but there's certainly no need for fans to start worrying.
"I'm really looking for at least two wide players and obviously a striker to replace Ben Wright who has gone to Forest Green Rovers," he continued. "There's no shortage of players available particularly with the Professional Footballers' Association list now out and I'm talking to quiet a few people."
Devonshire added: "It's all about picking and choosing the right players to come in and do the right job we want done.

"You have to be patient as a manager and wait to choose the right moment and of course the right player, some of who are currently on holiday," Devonshire continued. "Some players too have been released by Football League clubs and obviously want to keep their options open as long as they can in the hope of getting signed on by another Football League club."
Devonshire went on: "I'm confident that come the start of pre-season we'll have the new players we want in place and then we have some good pre-season matches lined up to have at look at them and possibly others." he added.
The Iron open their pre-season friendlies away to Long Melford on July 14. with the real first test coming on Saturday, July 21 with the visit of Southend Utd to the Amlin Stadium followed by Ipswich Town on Tuesday, July 24.

“Very sensible by the Braintree Manager, there are hundreds of eligible players without a Club out there. We want players with the right winning mentality at the club not just any old iron.”
