ESSEX: Swifts and Maldon win; Braintree and City draw; Billericay and Brentwood defeated

​BRAINTREE Town let a two goal lead slip as they drew 2-2 at strugling Lewes.

The Iron were 2-0 up inside 30 minutes of the Blue Square South clash thanks to goals from Sean Marks and George Purcell but Joe Keehan hit a brace to rescue a point for the south coast club.

Chelmsford City also drew 2-2 at home to Eastleigh, who went ahead after just four minutes through Richard Gillespie.

Dave Rainford equalised for City but the visitors went ahead again through Staforde Palmer. Anthony Cook earned the Clarets a point with seven minutes remaining.

In the Ryman League Premier Division, after beating leaders Dartford in midweek, Billericay Town lost 2-1 at home to Harrow Borough.

While in the Ryman League Division One North, Heybridge Swifts gave their play-off hopes a boost with a 2-0 win at VCD Athletic.

Brentwood Town went down 2-0 at home to Thamesmead Town and Maldon Town beat Leyton 3-1 at home.

In the Essex Senior League Witham Town's fine form continued with a 1-0 win at Clapton. Burnham Ramblers won at home to Barking by the same scoreline, while Tiptree United lost 3-2 at Sawbridgeworth Town.
