ONGAR: Barn fire in Greensted shuts down village

A FIRE in Greensted closed the parish off for hours on Monday evening.

Roads leading into the rural settlement were shut down while six fire engines tackled a blazing barn in Blake Hall Road.

A large section of the barn was destroyed by the fire at 5pm on Monday 1, which could be seen from as far away as Brentwood.

Assistant Divisional Officer Dave Taylor said: "We will be staging an investigation into the fire."

No one was hurt in the blaze, which was put out by 6.35pm.
