WICKFORD: Man charged with armed robberies

A MAN from Colchester has been charged in relation to a spate of knife-point robberies across south Essex.

Jay Williams, 31, of Military Road, has been remanded in police custody to appear before magistrates in Basildon on Monday morning.

He has been charged with three counts of robbery, including a raid on Coral bookmakers in Wickford on Wednesday, one count of attempted robbery, and possession of a knife blade in a public place.
