BRENTWOOD: Boy 'drugged' by house burglars
Pup Sonny was taken along with both Bev Hunt's car and husband Dave's van which contained around £30,000 worth of tools.
Bev says it's possible her son was the first to disturb the intruders.
She claims: "He can remember bits. He can remember something being put down his throat."
She said police have taken away the boy's bedding for forensic tests.
Bev is now desperate to see the return of her much-loved pet.
She said she woke up at 4.40am on Wednesday June 24 to find kitchen drawers had been opened and the keys to her £16,000 Nissan Aventura and Dave's Vauxhall Transporter taken.
Bev, who has lived in the quiet village of Wyatt's Green near Doddinghurst for the past six years, said although the break-in and theft of the vehicles had rocked the family, she said the theft of Sonny had come as the greatest blow.
"Dave bought him as a Christmas present for me. We had all become so attached to him.
"He was a dear little dog. We all loved him to bits. We are all devastated.
"Wyatts Green is such a lovely place to live. We are all shocked about it."
Thieves broke into the couple's Plovers Mead home via the kitchen.
Dave's entire collection of flooring tools were taken, along with his work mobile, a BlackBerry, passport, and dozens of VAT receipts.
"The van was like his office," Bev added.
A police spokesman confirmed materials from the home had been taken away for testing.
A spokesman added: "Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a burglary in Wyatt's Green that took place between 11pm on June 23 and 3.30am on June 24."
