BRAINTREE: Launch of Race for Life

READY, steady, go... The Braintree Race for Life was launched with a colourful presentation at the bandstand in George Yard.

This year the Essex Chronicle is adding its support to ensure the event is another  amazing success for Cancer Research UK.

The Race for Life team and volunteers from the charity’s shop in Bank Street came together to  mark the launch.

Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series to fund Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.

This year Race for Life in Braintree is being held on Sunday June 20 at 11am at Great Notley County Park.

Last year 2,087 women walked, jogged or ran the 5km course which took place for the sixth time in the town and raised an incredible £121,584.

Cancer Research UK’s Braintree events manager, Lucy Hynes,  said: “This year will be even more incredible.   Each year the event is getting more and more popular and we are seeing women of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes take part."

Lucy said the support of the local community is what makes Race for Life such a success.
