BILLERICAY: Statham set to swoop for striker duo

BILLERICAY Town manager Brian Statham was hoping that a new striking duo would solve his side's lack of goals when they went to Maidstone Utd last night (Tuesday) for a Ryman League Premier Division match.

With striker Billy Bricknell finally due to return after his long injury lay-off - Blues' scheduled home game with Aveley on Saturday was waterlogged off - he will link up with new signing Daniel Charge.

Formerly at Dagenham & Redbridge, Charge spent the early part of the season at Grays Athletic scoring three goals in 12 games.

Recently he has been at Hemel Hempstead.

Blues' goalkeeper Andy Walker has returned to his old club Maidstone Utd on loan because the more experienced Paul Nicholls, ex-Chelmsford City, has kept him out of the side.

Meanwhile, Brentwood Town manager Les Whitton is confident his side can bounce back from last Saturday's 2-0 Ryman League Division One North defeat at second placed Concord Rangers to beat lowly Ilford at the Arena this Saturday.
