Brentwood's own Darren Hayman (of Hefner fame) will be performing, as well as Sharron Kraus and Danny and the Champions of the World.

Folk legend Martin Carthy will also be playing a special concert on Saturday June 23 at St. Clements Church. He will be supported by the startingly original You Are Wolf, meaning tradition and modernity are mixed into one show. This performance starts at 6:30pm, and tickets are £8 from the Leigh Folk Festival website.

Other musical highlights include sets from local bands including Makwin, The Fancy Dress Party, Delta Jacks, Deferred Sucess and Art Gruppe

Music is not the only attraction at the festival. Leigh's Three Flying Ducks Comedy Club begins the Folk Festival with Fake Thackray, the Jake Thackray tribute act, on Thursday, June 21, who is supported by Helen Arney on the ukulele (tickets available by emailing 2ducksandadrake@gmail.com).

The festival is also teaming up with the Leigh Art Trail and White Bus to screen the cult British horror The Wicker Man – Director's Cut in Southend-on-Sea on Friday, June 22.

A full programme of music is set to take over six venues in Leigh Old Town on Sunday, June 24.

The festival welcomes people of all ages, having activities for children along with entertainment for adults.
