Sachsgate scandal was "just rhubarb and guff" says Brand

Monday, November 16, 2009, 11:36

A year on from the Sachsgate scandal and Essex comedian Russell Brand says he finds the whole furore funny.

The Grays wit and bon viveur was speaking at a launch event for Scandalous, the DVD of his live tour earlier in the year in which he tackled the call to Sachs and the reaction it caused.

"I apologise for the thing I did wrong to the person I did it to but the whole subsequent scandal was funny," said Brand.

"It is funny, I think. It's just rhubarb and guff."

Brand made the call during his Radio 2 show and after thousands of complaints to the BBC and a media storm, he resigned while Jonathan Ross, who made the calls with him, was suspended.
