Essex girl Pixie nominated for three Brit awards

Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 09:19

Brentwood singer Pixie Lott has been rewarded for her brilliant breakthrough year in 2009 with three Brit award nominations.

The Essex songstress has nominations for best female artist, best breakthrough act and best single for Mamma Do.

Lott, 19, released her debut single, Mamma Do, last June and it went straight to number one, heralding a remarkably successful summer for her which included a triumphant performance at the Chelmsford leg of the V Festival.

Pixie's debut album, Turn It Up, was a top 10 hit but she's up against particularly stiff competition for the best female artist award, with Florence and the Machine likely to be the front-runner in this category.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Earls Court Arena, London on Tuesday, February 16.
