Maldon struck by late winner

MALDON TOWN 1

EAST THURROCK 2

(Ryman League Division One North)

TOWN came within 10 minutes of completing their third successive game without dropping a point against the league's top sides.

Manager Colin Wallington was bitterly disappointed to see his side lose after their recent fine recovery and he will be hoping that they returned to winning ways when they went to Waltham Forest last night (Wednesday) for another league game.

"It was disappointing not to keep our run going and we had chances to have won the game but when you're up against a good side you have to take those chances," he said.

Town fell behind after only eight minutes when Louis Higgins sneaked in at the far post for the visitors.

Liam White had a decent chance to level for Town but scooped his shot wide of the post from a James Abbott free-kick.

They equalised on 36 minutes courtesy of a Benson Packa volley.

The visitors put real pressure on the Town defence in the second half and it paid off when Sam Berry scored.
