Maldon crash out of FA Cup

THE dream of making the FA Cup First Round proper will have to wait for another year for Maldon Town.

For they lost 4-1 in Tuesday's Preliminary Round replay at home to local and Ryman League Division One North rivals Witham Town.

Maldon had let a 3-1 lead slip on Saturday as Witham came back in the second half.

Cody MacDonald grabbed all three Maldon goals in that match but was missing from the replay due to a suspension carried over from last season when, ironically, he was playing for Witham.

It was a double disappointment for Maldon boss Russell Tanner (pictured) who will have wanted to have got one over his old club and would have been looking at the possibility of a good cup run and the chance to generate some extra money.
