Luke proves to be a Pain

MOUNTNESSING BOCA 2

CANNING TOWN 1

(LFC Insurance Essex Olympian League Premier Division)

MOUNTNESSING took all three points with Town only snatching a consolation goal with two minutes remaining.

The first half was fairly even with both sides having good chances to open the scoring with Mounts chances falling to Scott Lovett and George Shelvey.

The second half started very lively and Mount were in front after just five minutes from the penalty spot, a superb run by captain Jamie Lewis ended with him slipping the ball to the feet of forward Smith who was upended.

Luke Pain stepped up and scored the penalty after a retake for encroachment and this gave Mounts a welcome boost and they went on to control the game from then onwards.

It was that man Pain who scored a wonder strike from fully 30 yards out which had Town's 'keeper grabbing thin air.

Canning Town grabbed a late goal with two minutes remaining with a flick header from a corner.
