Boca back to winning ways

FACES 1

MOUNTNESSING BOCA 3

(Essex Olympian League Premier Division)

MOUNTNESSING finally got back to winning ways at Faces.

The game was effectively over by half time, as an understrength Mountnessing side recovered from started a bit nervy.

After the opening 15 minutes, the visitors got into their stride and it was new signing Keith Martin formerly of East Thurrock United and AFC Hornchurch who got the opener after he intercepted a back pass and slotted past a stranded Faces goalkeeper from the edge of the box.

This gave the visitors the confidence they needed and the next 20 minutes shaped the result with two penalties awarded and a sending off.

Good individual work from wideman Luke Pain got the first pen and he picked himself up to smash home, the second came 10 minutes before half-time when forward Adrian Smith ran through and was pulled down just inside the box.

The defender was adjudged to have been the last man and was dismissed, Pain again smashed the penalty home.

The second half was very scrappy and the game never flowed, though the home side did manage to pull one back.

Tonight (Wednesday) Mount are scheduled to host league leaders Kelvedon Hatch (kick-off 7.45pm) and they are at home again on Saturday against Springfield in the League Cup Third Round (kick-off 2.15pm).
