Boca go through after spot-kicks

ROMFORD RESERVES 1

MOUNTNESSING BOCA 1

(After extra-time, Boca win 4-3 on penalties)

(League Cup Second Round)

THE score suggests this was very close, but if Mountnessing had taken their chances they would have wrapped the match up in normal time.

The visitors were without four of their regulars, but the boys that came in did well, none more so than forward Ricky Defrietas, who looked very lively up front for his first game back after being out for three months.

The home side did have spells of pressure, but didn't create any clear cut chances.

The game could have ended with just two minutes of normal time remaining when Defrietas raced on to a through ball but could only find the 'keeper's legs.

However, undeterred he scored what he thought was the winner with just a minute of the first period of extra-time remaining with a cool finish at the far post.

But with just five minutes remaining the hosts equalised after Mount were left short at the back and the game went to the spot kicks.

Boca 'keeper Peter Anderson saved the decisive pen to send Mount through.

Boca have been accepted for Essex Senior League status next season but will have to finish in the top two of the LFC Insurance Essex Olympian League Premier Division.

They return to league action this Saturday when they host Frenford (kick-off 2pm).
