As Managing Director of M.E.A.T Ipswich Ltd, I have the pleasure of meeting at least a hundred charming butchers in their shops every year from Penrith to Penzance. The diversity, quality and range of products now available is a credit to the industry.

I have worked in all aspects of the fresh food industry since 14 years of age starting as a "Saturday Person" in this country and on the continent gaining various qualifications at night school as both full and part time college courses. I was a lecturer at Norwich City College for 5 years. John Croxford, my late husband, founded M.E.A.T Ipswich Ltd 22 years ago. He was passionate about the industry, believing everyone in the trade should be given the chance to reach their full potential. I believe I have maintained that philosophy and continue to develop individuals learning opportunities.

I am a butcher and have worked in and ran a butchers shop so I understand the challenges and opportunities the industry faces.

I can truly say my delight is seeing youngsters progress into supervisors, management, assessors and/or owning their own shops, recruiting more youngsters and giving them the opportunity to learn as they once did.
