Jenny Ruth

Jenny Ruth is the Food Management Co-ordinator at Writtle College, with responsibility for the new honours and foundation degree courses in Sustainable Food Management for September 2009 entry. These courses fit within the School of Sustainable Environments and draw on the extensive expertise within Writtle College. They will appeal to those with an interest in food who want to explore the diverse nature of the food supply chain with an emphasis on sustainability.

Jenny has a lifelong passion for food, gaining BSc (Hons) Food and Nutrition from the University of Huddersfield. She worked in the food manufacturing industry for many years as New Product Development Manager, developing and launching new products for retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury's, in products as diverse as desserts, dips, flavoured creams, soft cheeses, sauces and condiments. Chances are you have tasted some of her creations on the supermarket shelves!

Jenny has a passion for food production and the fantastic career paths available in the food industry and she looks forward to sharing this with students.

As the mother of two young children, jenny appreciates the importance of school meal quality and looks forward to visiting the schools to taste the delicious food on offer.

Caroline Pocock

Caroline is the Schools and Colleges Liaison Coordinator at Writtle College with responsibility for working with Schools and Colleges in the Eastern Region and organising a range of activities including campus visits, open days and careers conventions.

She was born in Norfolk and has lived in Essex for over four years. Since graduating in 2004 she has worked in marketing and advertising before joining Writtle College in 2007.

Caroline has been working with the Food Management Co-ordinator to help promote the new Sustainable Food Management Courses and has a keen interest in how children's diets effect their education.
