Corporate Responsibility

Sponsored and Judged by Essex & Suffolk Water

The Category

This award is divided into two sections, one aimed at businesses and the other at charities and/or not-for-profit organisations.

We want to recognise the excellent work that many businesses do to "give something back" to their local communities by generally improving the quality of life for particular groups of people or the community as a whole. This could be any kind of project or activity that improves the lives and wellbeing of people and the environment in the local area.

Separately we also want to recognise the dedicated work that charities and not-for-profit organisations do to improve the local environment or help people in the local area with specific needs that often need personal or specialised attention and support to help them manage difficult and challenging circumstances.

What the judges are looking for

The judges are looking for a general description of how your company, charity or not-for-profit organisation works to benefit sections of the community in which you are based. Describe what you do and why you decided to do it.

Specific questions to answer

  1. What do you offer over and above your daily work practices to your local community?
  2. What is it that you do to make a difference to the lives of others and/or the local environment?
  3. Please identify the financial and/or personnel resources allocated to your community work.
  4. What are your key achievements over the past 12 months?
  5. What are your aims for the next 12 months and do you have a longer term plan?
