Volunteers were putting up bunting – after being asked by council highways officers to carry out special checks on the fixings used to hang the flags in the town centre.
Saturday's carnival procession, which starts at 1.30pm from the Flitch Industrial Estate, will include 60 entries as well as four bands. Madness tribute band One Step Behind will be among arena entertainment.
