SOUTHEND: Woman killed in sports car crash

A WOMAN in her 70 was killed when she was involved in an accident with a red Porsche 911 in Southend.

Shirley Watkins, 74, of Bournemouth Park Road, was declared dead at the scene after the crash in Eastern Avenue just after 1.30pm on Friday.

The road was closed for five hours while forensic officers inspected the scene.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until May 17.
