More signings in the pipeline for Chelmsford City

Manager Jeff King is continuing his search to strengthen his newly promoted side admitting: “We're pleased with the four new signings we've made and we're looking to possibly add one or two more before we start.”
King has said all through the close season that he knew from his experiences when in charge of Canvey Island during their successive promotions to the full Conference level, that last season's City side needed considerably strengthening to seriously challenge for a second successive promotion.
“We'll definitely be a better side than last season and we'll obviously be trying for another promotion,” he added.
City's latest signing, 32-year-old defender Steve Robinson who skippered Blue Square South champions Lewes to promotion, is a major coup for City as he was being sought by a posse of other clubs.
Robinson, who played over 100 matches for the Sussex side and has also played for Grays Athletic and Cheshunt, is expected to create a formidable partnership in the heart of the City defence with the equally experienced Andy Duncan.
On signing for City, Robinson said: “I'm really looking forward to playing for hopefully another promotion winning side this season. I know a lot of the fine reputation City have in non-league and the tremendous support so I was only too pleased to sign.
“I waited a while after all the upheaval there was at Lewes at the end of last season to see where I could go to a club with the same ambition as myself for promotion and I had no hesitation in committing when City came in for me.”
He added: “I'm really impressed with the whole set up of the club and there's a great bunch of lads, some of whom I've known from playing against them.”
Robinson's arrival along with the three other major signings means the departure of two more of last season's championship winning side, midfielder Mario Noto and striker Kezie Ibe.
Noto is currently on trial with Ebbsfleet and Ibe is having trial matches with three or four Ryman League clubs.
Last night (Wednesday), City entertained a strong Ipswich Town side at the Melbourne Stadium before going to King's old club at Canvey Island tomorrow (Friday) for another friendly (kick-off 7.45pm).
The next City match is at home to a Colchester United side on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
