Tea party boost for J's

Wednesday, August 27, 2008, 10:56

A SUCCESSFUL cream tea held in Danbury in aid of the J's Hospice raised £627 for the charity.

The event included a raffle, a homemade cake stall, homemade cards and a white elephant stall. It also gave the chance for the charity's supporters to meet the new head of fundraising Nick Garner, who was previously with the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity.

Denise Whiffin, founder of the J's Hospice charity said: "We feel Nick can bring his expertise to help us raise our profile and much-needed funds and help us to grow as a charity and build a team around him."

Nick said: "We need to raise funds to build The J's hospice in Essex to provide respite and hospice care for 18 to 40-year-olds.

"There is only one hospice in the whole of the UK for adults of this age group, in Oxford, so we believe this is long overdue and very much needed in our region to help those with life-limiting diseases."
