SCHOOLBOY adventures will be relived when James Chesters embarks on a mountainous expedition next summer.

The 27-year-old marketing assistant for First Buses, based in Westway, Chelmsford has signed up for the Macmillan Peru Hiking Challenge along the famous Inca Trail.

Before he sets off in May, James, pictured above, must raise a minimum of £3,300 as well as training for the demanding trail, a route that includes climbing several high and remote mountains.

"It is not a very long trail, we cover about 25 miles over 10 days but there are a lot of steep climbs, at one point we will reach 4,000 metres.

"I did some climbing at school and I did the Duke of Edinburgh's Award but I haven't done much since."

James, of South Woodham Ferrers, has already started the fundraising challenge and a donation of £1,500 from his company means he is well on his way to reaching the target.

He said: "I signed up to walk the Inca Trail after my aunt died of cancer last year. Macmillan do great work, and my aunt spoke of the Macmillan nurses as if they were saints to her.

"I can't think of a better tribute to her memory."
