Scissors Hair Sanctuary in Clematis Tye, Chelmsford, has been asked by Chelmsford Borough Council to remove the advertising boards, but despite this setback, owner Jacqueline Monks said the business is alive and kicking.
Mrs Monks said: "Whilst we are concerned about the potential effect of being forced to remove our signs on winning new clients, especially considering that our salon is upstairs at the rear of the development, we have never considered closure as an option because we have many loyal and valued clients.
"New clients are always welcome but letting people know we're there has always been difficult.
"Since placing the A board, one client who has lived in the area for more than 15 years said, 'All this time and I didn't know you were up here'."
Mrs Monks has owned and run the Scissors Hair Sanctuary for 23 years after establishing it with the ethos 'Your hair is our passion'.
She has remained focussed on providing not just excellent hairdressing but at being number one for customer service. Using her extensive knowledge and experience as an NVQ assessor, she has assembled and trained a formidable team with specialists in technical colour, cutting, and prom and wedding hair.
Mrs Monks added: "As our adverts say 'If you haven't tried us yet, come and find out what you've been missing'.
"As well as our inspirational hairdressing with the latest styles we always go the extra mile with a complimentary drinks menu and birthday cards containing a cash voucher for each client on their birthday.
"We have a large free car park at the rear of our shop and if it's raining we'll walk you there with a large umbrella.
"Recently joined our team is a holistic beauty therapist offering a full range of treatments. Try us, there's nothing to lose, and it's likely to be the best decision you could make this year."
