Burnham Art Trail's seventh annual exhibition is its biggest yet, featuring 45 artists in 32 venues over eight days.

The art on show will cover a number of disciplines including painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, millinery, sculpture and conceptual art.

Venues include shops, gardens, restaurants, pubs, Burnham Museum and library and all the artists exhibiting either live in the Dengie or have strong ties to Burnham.

The trail is also a chance to see artists at work and get an insight into their working methods as they open their studios up to the public.

Steven Harkin, an internationally renowned designer, will be welcoming people into his leather workshop while textile artist Tors Duce and jewellery designer Angela Martin will be holding free demonstrations at the Back2theWall Gallery on Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30 from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.

Jean Webber will be leading two watercolour workshops with students at St Mary's Primary School while adults are invited to enter an open art and craft competition with the theme of Land, Sea and Sky.

Each year there's a community project for the Art Trail and this time artist Glennis Dye has been commissioned to design five mosaics themed around the aquatic wildlife of the River Crouch. These mosaics will then form part of the paving for a memorial garden next to Burnham's Clock Tower.

Most exhibits on the trail will be for sale and for the first time unframed artist's work and cards will also be for sale in the museum.

A free guide and map can be picked up from the museum and the tourist information office.
