Youngsters put fitness to the test
YOUNG boxers from Brentwood Youth ABC put their fitness to the test at the 2012 National Cross Country Championships held in Upminster.
And the youngsters did the club proud at the Stubbers Activity and Adventure Centre with a number of top three finishes.
Racing against clubs from as far as Durham and Manchester, Jake Harrison finished second in Essex and third nationally in the under-17 race.
Billy Chandler was first in Essex and also finished third nationally in the under-13s, whilst Lewis Ednar and Zach Killoran both finished third in Essex in the under-15 and under-17 races respectively.
Meanwhile, in the ring boxers from the club won titles at a championships held in Harlow.
Jimmy Sains, boxing in the under 34 kg class one competition, won a comfortable points victory in a strong performance and Mark Whale continued the winning ways with a hard fought points victory in the under 40kg class one competition.
Jordan Edner, George Williamson and Billy Hookins all boxed well but lost narrowly in a good all round display.
In the Essex Schoolboys' Championship, Billy Chandler was crowned under 40kg class one champion following a hard fought battle with Richard Temple from Billericay ABC.
