4 There’s another village festival happening this Saturday as Walthamstock comes back for a second year at the village’s school field with two music stages

featuring great local acts like Navacross, Machine Gun Men, Crème De Chevre and Delta Jacks plus food stalls, a therapy tent and activities for children. The fun starts at noon and proceeds go to charity.

5 Great Waltham is clearly the place to be this Saturday. Aside from Walthamstock, accomplished guitar man Clive Carroll will be playing a very special set at Great Waltham Village Hall with support from local lass Amy Westney and guest appearances from Carey Hull and Giles Bryant. Hawaiian themed food and drink

will add to the feelgood vibe.

6 Burnham Art Trail continues until Sunday and features an impressive array of work in various medium from artists from the town and the Dengie peninsula. Look out for fine art, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, leather work and textiles at various venues throughout Burnham.

7 Chelmsford’s Intense Records is bringing a new night of liquid funk, minimal d’n’b, future garage, dubstep, stripped-back reggae and old skool hip hop to Hooga, Chelmsford this Saturday night. The first Mojo night features star DJ and producer Marcus Intalex, renowned for his challenging tunes and trailblazing style.

8 There’s fun for all the family with Swamp Juice, an award-winning puppet show from Canadian performer Jeff Achtem which comes to Braintree Arts Theatre on

Friday at 6pm. Look out for bickering toads, overbearing fairies, a gentle monster and a stunning 3D finale. The show may be a bit scary for under sevens.

9 Fancy a trip to the cinema? After a great turn in last year’s The Lincoln Lawyer, Matthew McConaughey shows his acting prowess again in Killer Joe (18), a tense thriller about a hitman in the Deep South who finds himself embroiled in the complicated lives of a troubled family.

10 End the weekend with a giggle at Bay Horse, Chelmsford on Sunday night when The Comedy Club Uncut is back for its fortnightly spot with the latest up-and-coming acts on the comedy circuit. It’s a great chance to see comedy stars of the future in an intimate setting. Starts at 7.45pm.
