Villagers in cash rally to save house
A FANTASTIC £6,300 was raised by Doddinghurst residents desperate to save one of the oldest buildings in the village.
The Grade II listed Priest House is over 400 years old and urgently needs maintenance in the region of £50,000 to save it from rotting away.

GIFT AID: (l-r) Rev Pat Cotton, Rev Gill Frith and Thelma Mumford outside Priest House.
It is used by several social and community groups as well as members of the church, but the oak beams have rotted over time, putting the structure at risk.
During a gift weekend, organised by Reverend Gill Frith and with help from members of the All Saint's church, an appeal was made to villagers for donations or loans which will allow immediate work to begin.
Around £36,000 is needed to prevent winter damage alone.
The Rev Gill Frith said: "It's wonderful that the village has rallied round to help this historic building in the heart of the village."
Contact Rev Frith via The Rectory, Church Lane, Doddinghurst, or call 01277 821366 for more information or to help with the appeal.
