Tune into Soundclouders
ELECTRONIC music has always had a strong foothold in Essex and still has a flourishing scene thanks to music sharing website, Soundcloud, and Paul Fossett, founder of the Chelmsford Soundclouders group.
Paul has been a DJ and producer for years, playing in Essex and London but felt he had lost touch a bit when he got married and started a family.
But in the last year or so he started to listening to more current music again and was excited by what he found.
Linking up with similar-minded Essex folk via Soundcloud, Paul began creating and mixing music again and soon found his Chelmsford Soundclouders Facebook group taking off.

"I started the group to share music and knowledge, get people's opinions and also share software and hardware.
"Then I started thinking about what it would be like for us to hear our tunes outside of our headphones, outside of our homes."
Looking for a venue, Paul looked no further than Marc Miller and Jon Board, old school friends who ran hooga and have now moved to The Loop in Chelmsford.
Paul started organising Chelmsford Soundclouders nights and was amazed at how popular they soon became.
"It really took off, people sprung up out of nowhere and said what a brilliant idea it was."
Paul explains the event is very much an informal gathering rather than a big night. Any kind of music goes and Paul says it's a great place for people to meet, chat, listen and be inspired by what other people are doing.
The next Chelmsford Soundclouders night at The Loop is on Thursday, April 18 and will feature sets from Nick Humphrey, Ian Cheshire, Mono 4 and David Gooday-STARK, a founder member of Nitzer Ebb, Sergio Vilas and Undy.
The artists appearing might all be local, but many of them are signed and releasing music across the world so it's a great chance to hear some of the best electronic music around right on your doorstep.
"We're open to all genres," adds Paul. "That's what Soundcloud is all about.
"There's so much good music in our backyard, this night makes it that much more accessible."
Chelmsford Soundclouders April Meet-Up is at The Loop, Chelmsford on Thursday, April 18 from 8pm. Entry is free. For more details and links to music, go to the Chelmsford Soundclouders group on Facebook
