Travellers' eviction appeal back in court in December
THE on going battle between illegal travellers and Basildon Council will go back to court at the end of this year.
The council will go to the Court of Appeal on December 5 to challenge the High Court ruling in May which quashed its earlier decision to evict travellers from Dale Farm, Crays Hill, and Hovefields, Wickford.
If the council win they will be free to evict around half of the travellers from the two sites while the other half will remain as they are legal.
The council will now continue with their “twin-track approach” which means they will also take a fresh set of eviction decisions at a planning committee meeting.
