St Albans defender plays for City
CHELMSFORD City will include new signing Ben Martin, the former captain of St Albans City, when they go to Bury Town for their first pre-season match on Saturday (July 11).
Defender Martin is named in a 20-man squad for the match but two more regular City players from last season will be missing.
Both defender Chris Duffy, who has joined East Thurrock, and forward Bertie Brayley, have left the club.
Central defender Steve Robinson will also be missing through injury on Saturday.
Now in charge of team affairs head coach Glenn Pennyfather said: "The players have worked really hard and shown a lot of quality in training, but there's no substitute for match practice and they're all keen to find their fitness on a football pitch rather than running around a field."
City's first home friendly is next Wednesday against Stevenage Borough (kick off 7 45pm).
