Run goes on for Writtle
BOWLS: Writtle 'C' men's team who managed to continue with their winning form when they took on Gt Baddow 'D'.
Skip Ron McGregor, Bob Barden, Ron Langman and Bill Martin got off to a slow start but Baddow were unable to build on their lead and Writtle took full advantage by scoring well over the middle ends.
Baddow picked up a five shot win on the 11th end but it was Writtle who finished the stronger winning by 26 shots to 14.
Skip John Kateley, Don Metson, Bernard Plumb and Alf Sargeant always looked the more comfortable team and won by 24 shots to 12.

Skip Roy Byrne, Bill Selkirk, Alistair Kennedy and Roy Youngs started the game well and eventually held on to a 22-17 shot win. Writtle took a maximum 10 league points.
Writtle 'B' played Ingatestone 'B' at home and it was a close game for all rinks.
Skip George McGuffin, Andrew Frow, Bob Harvey and John Drake were eight shots to four up at the seventh end but were unable to score again for the next seven ends and found themselves down 8-15 at the 14th.
Writtle gradually got themselves back into contention but the game was decided on the last end when the home team secured a single shot win and won overall 19-18.
Skip Eddie Maycock, Cedric Ashford, Peter Pearce and Jim Drake just about stayed with Ingatestone and but it was Ingatestone who took the 19-18 victory by scoring a single shot on the last end.
