Investigating officer, Pc Jodie Kinsley, said: "This is an absolute tragedy for Jack’s family, and any dog lover will know that dogs are part of the family, and the victim and her children have been left heartbroken by someone stealing Jack.

"I urge everyone to take a good look at the description and picture and let us know if they have seen Jack.

"Has anyone you know recently got a puppy? If you know anything I appeal to your conscience to call us immediately so he can be returned to his family."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pc Jodie Kinsley at the Basildon area investigation team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
