Local sports memorabilia on display
AN interesting sporting exhibition is being held at Chelmsford Museum until April.
Based in Oaklands Park, at the top end of Moulsham Street in Chelmsford, from this Saturday the exhibition will highlight the sporting achievements of many men and women from Essex and from across the Eastern Region.
Aptly called Sporting Heroes the exhibition has stories and memorabilia from Essex County Cricket Club, including a record-breaking cricket ball, plus athletics trophies and medals from Chelmsford Athletics Club, famous match day programmes from Chelmsford City Football Club while other highlights include a Commonwealth Games Bronze medal won by local hockey player Lisa Letchford in 2006.
Sporting stars featured in the display include England World Cup Final hat-trick hero and Chelmsford schoolboy Geoff Hurst and Essex snooker player Steve Davis while the exhibition also highlights potential Essex Olympians ahead of the London Games this summer.
The museum is open most days from 10am until 5pm and on Sundays from 1pm until 4pm. Admission is free.
