Keeper Naisbitt leaves Cambridge to be Iron custodian
BRAINTREE Town have signed experienced keeper Danny Naisbitt from rivals Cambridge United and the Geordie goes straight into the first team squad for Saturday's opening Blue Square Bet Premier home game against Hyde.
The 33 year-old signed for the Iron after training with his new team-mates for first time on Tuesday and declared: "I'm really excited at coming to the club and playing for manager Alan Devonshire.
"Once I knew he wanted me then I didn't have to think twice about signing," who was an ever present in United's team last season.
"I like the way the Iron play and they did put three goals past me at the Amlin Stadium on New Year's Day!"

Naisbitt, who lives in Old Harlow, played 59 games for United over the past two season and 106 games for Histon the previous three season.
Naisbitt, who started out as a junior at Walsall and later played for Barnet, failed to agree terms with United during the summer and opted to move to the Iron.
Devonshire said: "When I first heard Danny was available I had no hesitation in going for him because he's a class keeper with lots of experience at our level.
"We needed strengthening in that department because we really only had Nathan (McDonald) as a keeper last season and you need to have options and, of course, competition for positions," said Devonshire.
The Iron manager is also hoping to bring in a possible new outfield player for Saturday. "We'll have to wait and see but I'm not rushing into anything and I'm pleased with the new players I've signed," he added.
Another new signing this week is 23-year-old midfielder James Mulley who played 32 games for AFC Wimbledon during their promotion to the Football League ending up late season on loan at Wealdstone.
All of last season's Iron squad, apart from the three transferred to other clubs, have signed with the exception of central defender Adam Bailey-Dennis who is opting for a week-by-week contract.
Both skipper Kenny Davis (ankle) and striker Sean Marks (groin) have recovered from their injuries and will line-up against newcomer Hyde.
Devonshire continues his search for a new striking partner for Marks but is happy with his squad for Saturday adding: "It will be a hard game.
"They've come up like us last season and will want to have a go from the off so there'll be no complacency from our players as they will know what to expect from their own experiences."
