FAMILY life in a remote patch of County Donegal will take over the stage at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester this week.

Brian Friel's celebrated play Dancing at Lughansa is set in the summer of 1936 and traces the lives of seven-year-old Michael Mundy, who lives with his mother, four sisters and elder brother Jack, a missionary priest returned from Africa.

Life is simple, and making ends meet is hard, but when the sisters acquire their first wireless radio, they dare to dream.

The Mundy sisters laugh, cry and dance as the dusk sets on the life they know and lost loves and opportunities blow away forever.
