Friends muck in at allotments
SCHOOLCHILDREN and community members mucked in to tidy up a Chelmsford allotment site.
The “friends' working day” was organised by the Wilderness Foundation UK, a charity which has taken responsibility for running the Hobarts Close site in Melbourne.

WORKING GROUP: Left to right are Richard Corby, David McLellen, Laura Mitson, Rob Mitson, Charli Welch and Michael Holden with Ada Cornell in front on the Hobart Close Allotments in Chelmsford.
Spokesman for the foundation Richard Corby said: “We are running eight allotment sites for the community.
“There are a lot of new people moving onto the estate and this is a way for them to get to know new people.
“Some people might like the idea of growing their own food but not want to take on the responsibility of running a whole allotment, and this is a good way for them to get involved.”
The project is being run in partnership with Moulsham High School.
