Farming and charity events are important to bank
AS BANKERS working in the area, staff at Handelsbanken Chelmsford see themselves very much as part of the community.
On top of its daily banking duties, the team takes part in a number of charity and fundraising events, and also sponsors some agricultural events throughout the county.
With a growing number of farming clients, the bank is keen to support the farming community. It is one of the sponsors of the Rochford Hundred Agricultural Society's annual ploughing match.
The ploughing match is an old farming tradition when farm workers come together to compete to see who can plough the best either by horse, steam or tractor. There are lots of other attractions too and it's an important date in the farming social calendar. This year it will be held on 22 September at Oldbury Farm in Great Wakering, Southend.

"We have been delighted to co-sponsor the ploughing match for four years running," said David Wilson, senior corporate manager at Handelsbanken Chelmsford.
Handelsbanken is also backing two other farming events in Essex.
Eleven members of staff at Handelsbanken will be pulling together to take part in the Essex Dragon Boat Games in July. They'll be helping to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Handelsbanken also organises a charity bowling match each year at Tenpin bowling alley in Chelmsford, where businesses compete for the title.
Handelsbanken sponsors the Best Growing Business category in the Essex Business Excellence Awards.
