FLOWERS mark the spot where a young driver tragically died after his car crashed into a railway bridge.

Former St Martin's School pupil Robert Hyde, 20, known to everyone as Bob, was pronounced dead at the scene after his black Vauxhall Astra collided with the bridge in Wash Road, Hutton, at around 10.30pm on Friday.

Two men, aged 23 and 20, from the Brentwood area, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The family of Bob, who lived in Woodland Avenue, Hutton, this week paid tribute to their "perfect son".

In a joint statement, they said: "Bob will never be replaced. He was a perfect son and had such a big personality and an even bigger heart.

"He loved everyone and was loved by everyone. Bob touched the lives of so many people. He will be greatly missed."

In their family tribute, they also said: "Bob was a big fan of Rihanna and the rapper The Game. He had three pet rabbits and he named one of them Chuck after The Game.

"Bob loved to travel, especially to Europe where he has visited France, Belgium, Greece and Holland. He loved going on the train and exploring England. He was an adventurer.

"He loved life, he loved his family and he loved his friends."

Bob, who worked at F J Harnett and Sons wholesale nursery in Stock, is survived by his mother Claire, father Vince, elder brother Oliver and younger brother Charlie.

Tributes, flowers and a photograph were left at the side of the railway bridge the day after the crash, with touching messages of love and disbelief, penned by his friends and family.

A balloon, bottle of beer and a box containing chocolate were also tied to a branch.

One tribute read: "Can't believe it, words can't express how we all feel. Such a good friend, not just to me, but everyone."

Another said: "You will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace."

After the tragic accident, Wash Road was closed overnight while the police carried out investigations.

Two men arrested in connection with the crash have been bailed until June 11, pending further enquiries.

Police want to hear from any drivers using Wash Road near to Prospect Way from 10pm on Friday. Any witnesses should call the Essex Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
