Comedy remnants
A SEXLESS middle-aged married man whose life now consists mainly of watching Scooby Doo cartoons with a four-year-old boy will attempt to make the people of Chelmsford laugh this week.
Stewart Lee – hailed by The Guardian as "the funniest thing on television" and derided as "about as funny as the bubonic plague" by The Sun – will bring his stand-up show, Carpet Remnant World, to the Civic Theatre this Friday, June 22.

DECONSTRUCTION: Stewart Lee's in Chelmsford on Friday
It is an apt title for a comedian who likes to pull the rug out from under the audience's feet.

"It's form interrogated by content through a haze of passive-aggressive monotony," he explains.
But his sharp intelligence and acerbic wit shine through and his mordant brand of humour has won him fans across the country.
