A SEXLESS middle-aged married man whose life now consists mainly of watching Scooby Doo cartoons with a four-year-old boy will attempt to make the people of Chelmsford laugh this week.
Stewart Lee – hailed by The Guardian as "the funniest thing on television" and derided as "about as funny as the bubonic plague" by The Sun – will bring his stand-up show, Carpet Remnant World, to the Civic Theatre this Friday, June 22.

Lee has divided opinions with his deconstructing, self-aware stand-up, told in a rigorous monotone. His is a brand of anti-comedy that lays into fellow stand-ups like Michael MacIntyre and Russell Howard and then lays into himself.
