An Essex pre-school building was destroyed by a blaze in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Chelmsford firefighters discovered the You & Me centre at Ashton Place, Chelmer Village, well alight when they arrived just after 12.30am.

After bringing the fire under control they remained on site until 3am damping down.

The cause of the fire has as yet not been identified.
