Buskers boost charity fund for sick youngster Georgie Nye
A TALENTED trio armed with instruments will be busking on the streets of Essex to raise money for a young boy with a life debilitating condition.
Leon Helsby, 33, of Witham, along with friends, Leigh Squires and Jimmy Scott, will be singing in 12 towns around the county on a 'Buskathon', to help Georgie Nye, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Georgie, four, of South Woodham Ferrers, has the worst form of the muscle-wasting disease, which also weakens the heart and the lungs.
He was diagnosed last December with the genetic condition, which causes progressive muscle weakness in boys, where the lack of dystrophine protein breaks down muscle fibres.

Georgie's mother, TJ Nye, 40, said: "Georgie will eventually lose complete power and will end up in a wheelchair."
Busker Leon, a friend of Georgie's grandmother Di, said: "I knew I wanted to do something for Georgie.
"I had the idea of a mega-busk around Essex, but I scaled it down to just 12 towns."
The trio, who play together once a month, will be starting at 9am in Braintree, before moving along to Witham, Colchester, Maldon, South Woodham Ferrers, Wickford, Rayleigh, Southend, Basildon, Billericay and Brentwood, finishing in Chelmsford on July 28.
Leon said: "We've got someone to drive us and hopefully we might have some supporters along the way."
With the help of the Buskathon, other fundraising events and the generosity of the public, they hope enough money can be raised for two four-year-long drug research trials, costing £231,000.
TJ said: "This particular drug will turn Georgie's Duchenne muscular dystrophy to the milder Becker form.
"It is not a cure, but it will slow it down a lot so Georgie can live a longer and more active life.
"I support the fight to end Duchenne because this is a boy who stole my heart at birth and I will not let Duchenne muscular dystrophy steal him from me."
After five years of fertility treatment to have Georgie and his twin sister Lili, TJ and her husband Baz said: "It is heartbreaking for us. He is our baby and we need to do everything to help him.
Friends and family are helping fund the research trials, including his uncle Craig Sorley taking part in the Great North Run in September.
