TWO young Maldon motorcycling racing brothers are aiming to go one better this summer and win the National Endurance Championship.

Martin and Peter Brand won their class outright in three hour endurance racing but are moving up a class and are determined to be overall nation champions this year.

Martin explains: "We had a hugely successful year in 2011 and thanks to all the team, sponsors and supporters for their help. We are aiming high for this year and want to win the National Championship outright.

"We think it's within our reach and we will be doing everything possible to get there."

Brother Peter adds: "The bikes are currently being completely rebuilt and upgraded for 2012, so we can't wait to start testing on them.

"We put a lot of time and effort in, but as usual we couldn't have won the championship without the people behind us."

Racing under the name 'Brand Brothers Racing' – or 'BBR' for short, on Yamaha R6 1000cc machines, they competed in the UK's 600cc Hottrax series all over the country.

The series included meetings at Brands Hatch, Anglesey, Snetterton (twice), Mallory Park, Oulton Park, Pembrey and Cadwell Park – all well known UK bike racing circuits.

All these events were televised and shown on the Motors TV channel, usually being screened a week or so after each event.

Currently two Essex companies are assisting with services and sponsorship, the main sponsor last year was JD Classics, a classic vehicle sales and restoration business also based in Maldon.
